Commemorating the 20th Anniversary of Dr LEE Jong-wook’s Passing and the 20th Anniversary of the Foundation

The year 2026 marks the 20th anniversary of the passing of Dr LEE Jong-wook, the sixth Director-General of the World Health Organization and a visionary leader in global health, as well as the 20th anniversary of KOFIH established in his honor.

Dr Lee was first Korean to lead an international organization, serving as the 6th Director-General of the World Health Organization (WHO), and devoted his life to advancing health and healthcare worldwide. Inspired by his legacy, KOFIH established in his honor runs a traning program bearing his name (Dr Lee Jong-wook fellowship program), contributing to the strengthening of health and medical capacity in developing countries.

Through this video, we pay tribute to Dr LEE's dedication and leadership, and carrying forward his belief that "we must do the right thing in the right place, in the right way". This video reflects on Dr LEE’s legacy and leadership, while looking ahead to the future of global health inspired by his vision.
