About KOFIHThe Ministry of Health and Welfare and the Korea Foundation for International Healthcare successfully hosted the “2026 Roundtable on Global Health Cooperation” attended by partner countries’ ambassadors based in Korea at 10:00 a.m. on February 10 (Tue) at the Westin Josun Seoul.
Following the inaugural ambassadors’ roundtable held last year, this second meeting was organized to institutionalize exchanges between the Ministry of Health and Welfare, its affiliated public institutions, and diplomatic missions of partner countries in Korea, while strengthening practical foundations for cooperation.
The roundtable was attended by six key organizations in the health and welfare sector, including the Ministry of Health and Welfare and the Korea Foundation for International Healthcare, along with the National Health Insurance Service, Health Insurance Review & Assessment Service, Korea Human Resource Development Institute for Health and Welfare, Korea Social Security Information Service, and National Institute for Korean Medicine Development. Ambassadors or representatives from ten countries—Ghana, Lao PDR, Rwanda, Mongolia, Sri Lanka, Ethiopia, Uzbekistan, Colombia, Kyrgyzstan, and Tanzania—also participated to discuss potential cooperation in official development assistance (ODA) in the health and welfare sector.
President Il-Soo Ha of the Korea Foundation for International Healthcare stated, “As a central hub for cooperation, we will strengthen KOFIH’s role, so that this roundtable can serve as a key communication platform for international development cooperation in the health and welfare sector.”
Junho Choi, Director General for International Cooperation at the Ministry of Health and Welfare, remarked, “This roundtable provides an opportunity to sustain continuous and systematic cooperation with partner countries,” adding that “we will continue to identify and implement country-tailored health and welfare ODA projects, focusing on our strengths such as digital health, universal health coverage (UHC), and health workforce capacity building.”
The Korea Foundation for International Healthcare will continue to solidify its cooperation framework with partner countries and further strengthen its role as a central hub for collaboration as a specialized implementing agency for health ODA.
