On September 2nd, KOFIH participated in `Korean Rotary Day` event which was launched at Kintex located in Ilsan of Gyeonggi-Do as a co-sponsor with the Korea Rotary and the Community Chest of Korea. KOFIH conducted the unveiling of `1,000,000,000Won-level Campaign for Reduction of Children`s Death Rate`.
`Reduction of Children`s Death Rate` is the fourth item of the new millenium development goals declared by all member countries of UN in year 2000 and such goal is to be achieved by the year 2015 in order to overthrow poverty, a threat to the mankind. Therefore, KOFIH, as one of the main projects conducted in 2008, is running a campaign along with the International Rotary, the largest private resources voluntary service organization in the world running `Campaign for Reduction of Children`s Death Rate`.
In this campaign for reduction of children`s death rate, No, Kwang Ul, the secretary general of KOFIH, quoted "Of the developing countries with poor healthcare infrastructures, the countries in Africa indicate the highest rate of children`s death" and he also quoted "If one of the countries in Africa should be selected, a project at funding of 1,000,000,000Won will be conducted along with the Korea Rotary for provision of clean drinking water, prevention of communicable diseases caused by mosquitos, expansion of vaccinations, modernization of inspection equipment/facilities, midwife education, and enlightenment upon mother and child`s health.
Through `Campaign for Reduction of Children`s Death Rate`, KOFIH will become a guardian angel to protect the lives of children dying in developing countries due to premature birth, low birth weight, and congenital malformation.
