On June 18, KOFIH invited 18 medical staff members from 6 developing countries of Laos/Sri Lanka/Mongolia/China/Angola/Uzbekistan along with the Korea Health Industry Development Institute as one of the `Lee, Jong Wook`s Memorial Projects`. KOFIH also launched `Lee, Jong Wook`s Fellowship` course to train the invited members in South Korea for three months.
Trainees selected based upon nominations from the organizations of involving countries are specialists in health fields and are less than 45 years old. These trainees will receive clinic-based education in infant emergency dept/pediatrics/emergency medicine/pain medicine/radiation/orthopedics/plastic surgery/oriental medicine/neurosurgery of domestic hospital.
From 2 days prior to the launching of training, the trainees showed very passionate willingness by learning South Korea`s culture, history, and language. On June 16(Monday), the trainees visited KOFIH`s medical instrument support center located in Yangju of Gyeonggi-Do on. They were impressed by the size of the center and the used medical equipment spotted at the center. The trainees quoted "We would like to take the medical equipment with us when we return home".
