The Government`s Dispatch of `Emergency Foreign Relief Team(Including KOFIH`s Members)`(June 5) to Myanmar)

KOFIH`s medical assistance team members left South Korea on June 5th(Thursday) as members of the government`s `Emergency Foreign Relief Team` and arrived at the Myanmar Yangon Airport. The relief team stayed for 11 days to provide medical assistance in cyclone-hit areas in Myanmar.
When the cyclone hit Myanmar, the government of Myanmar refused all foreign supports. However, the government was later convinced by the visit of Ban, Gi Mun, the secretary general of UN, and started to accept foreign supports. The government of South Korea sent its emergency foreign relief team to Myanmar after it`s the team returned from China.
29 members of the emergency foreign relief team were divided into two groups of 119 rescue teams. 5 medical support team members of KOFIH included Kim, Yeon Nam, an assistant manager of the international cooperation team, and 4 doctors from the international medical assistance team(Director Kim, Kwan Seok of surgery, director Seo, Jeong Seong Eye Ophthalmology, director Lee, Jun Ho of e-hyanggirowoon clinic(dermatology), and Kim, Hoon, Emergency Medicine Dept. of Inha University) were included in the medical support team. In addition, 3 doctors from the National Medical Center were included as members of the medical support team as well.
The team members are expected to well-treat the people in vicinity of cyclone-hit areas in order to make contributions to execute humanitarianism and enhancement of international cooperation. The team members are then expected to return home safely.
