Completion of Free Health Inspection for Foreign Migrant Workers

From 18 November 2007 to 30 December 2007, KOFIH conducted a project to provide free physical examinations in 15 hospitals in areas of Seoul, Gyeonggi-Do, Busan, and Daegu. 5,472 foreign migrant workers showed up and received great benefits.
This project to provide free physical examinations was promoted to target health enhancement and early detection of diseases for foreign migrant workers neglected in blind spots of medical benefits. Funding of 300,000,000Won was supported by Grand Korea Leisure Co.,Ltd and the entire contribution was used to run this project at no cost.
The foreign migrant workers received 28 kinds of physical examinations including hepatism, blood inspection, and chest radiography. KOFIH will synthesize and evaluate results of the examinations to consider follow up measures such as precisive examinations for foreign migrant workers suspected of having diseases. For those foreign workers diseased, a method planned will be promoted to link them to the project to be conducted by the Ministry of Health and Welfare in 2008 to provide free treatment.
This project for provision of free physical examinations to foreign migrant workers received outstanding evaluations both in quality and quantity. The project was purely conducted at humanitarian level. Therefore, illegal foreign migrant workers are included as well. The foreign migrant workers who received free examinations showed their gratitude. Such project is expected to bring a good image of South Korea to the foreign migrant workers.
