Free Health Inspection for 5,300 Foreign Migrant Workers

From November 18th to December 16th, KOFIH, a specialized organization supporting healthcare of foreign migrant workers in Korea, North Korea, and other developing countries, will be conducting a large-scale project to provide free physical examination to 5,300 foreign migrant workers(in order of arrival) at 9 hospitals located in Seoul/Gyeonggi areas including Seoul, Ansan, Hwaseong, Guri, Seongnam, and Namyangju.
This project to provide free physical examination was promoted under a purpose to enhance health of foreign migrant workers and detect diseases at early stage by giving physical examination to foreign migrant workers neglected in blind spots of medical benefits at no charge. Funding of 300,000,000Won was supported by Grand korea Leisure Co.,Ltd and the funding will be used to provide physical examination at no cost.
Foreign migrant workers will receive 29 physical examinations such as hepatic encephalopathy, blood inspection, and thorax radiation shooting at hospitals designated by KOFIH. Results of the physical examinations will be announced from the designated hospitals within 2 weeks.
KOFIH will combine and evaluate the results of examination to consider follow-up measures such as precisive examination for foreign migrant workers suspected of having a disease. For those foreign migrant workers with diseases, a method planned will be promoted to link them to a project which will be conducted by the Ministry of Health and Welfare to provide free treatment for foreign migrant workers.
This project for provision of physical examination to foreign migrant workers will be conducted on a large scale basis. The project is purely planned at humanitarian level and thus it includes all illegal foreign migrant workers as well.
