Successful Completion of the 1st Anniversary of KOFIH Establishment

KOFIH conducted its first anniversary of establishment on August 30th at Baekbum Kim, Gu`s Memorial Hall. Approximately 400 persons attended the anniversary from the government branches, private organizations, healthcare parties, and supporting groups.
The event began with a photo exhibition displaying Late Lee, Jong Wook, the former director general of WHO. Announcer Kim, Seong Joo ran the anniversary through the proclamation of vision. In the dinner party, a show was performed by a fusion-music performance team known as `Nabiya`.
President Park, Jong Hwa through his introduction quoted "After KOFIH`s re-establishment, KOFIH became a government-funded organization in August 2006 when Late Lee, Jong Wook was appointed as the director general of WHO. KOFIH has actively chased after its goal of `Disease-free World, Healthy World". Park also quoted "We will continue to do our best to become the `Healthcare Guard" delivering life, hope, and love for humanity by reaching out for the sick and diseased people around the world".
Yoo, Young Hak, the chief of Policy & Public Relations Management on behalf of Byun, Jae Jin, the Minister of Health and Welfare, through his congratulatory message quoted "KOFIH has been eradicating diseases, saving lives, spreading and flowering seeds of humanity, and gathering fruit for developing countries such as North Korea, Eritrea in Africa, Asia, and Uzbekistan".
Kim, Tae Hong, the chairman of the Health and Welfare Committee of the National Assembly of the Republic of Korea, through his congratulatory message quoted "KOFIH despite its short history has been showing outstanding performance and I would like to encourage its performance" and he also quoted "I hope KOFIH settles as the representative organization for healthcare support to become the true companion of the poor and the sick neighbors".
In particular, Reiko Kaburaki Lee(62), the spouse of Late Lee, Jong Wook, the first Korean director general of WHO who had dedicated himself to the service and passed away during his tenure of office in May 2006, visited Korea to attend this event. Reiko Kaburaki Lee quoted "My husband was a doer who overcame everything with his unbending willingness to eradicate mankind diseases" and she also quoted "I would like to show my gratitude to KOFIH for actively forerunning a project to commemorate my husband".
Reiko Kaburaki Lee was chosen as the winner of `Paradise Award` in 2006 and she visited Korea during November of last year. She then visited Korea on August 28th to attend this commemorative event. On August 29th, she attended the luncheon with Park, Jong Hwa, the president of KOFIH, to visit the grave boundaries of men of national merit in Daejeon National Cemetery where her spouse Dr. Lee, Jong Wook was enshrined.
During the proclamation of vision, `We shall make contributions to developing disease-free and healthy world along with the nations` and `Globally-known specialized organization providing healthcare support for the beneficiary countries` were proposed as the mission and the vision respectively. Accordingly, △Establishment of status as specialized organization supporting healthcare, △Active contributions to achieving MDGS(New Millennium Development Goals), and △Maximized supportability and creativity through consistent modification and innovation were presented as the three assignments to be promoted.
