KOFIH decided to co-run `Project for Education/Training of North Korean Doctors` with `獨-朝 Medical Association` located in Germany.
This project had been already primarily progressed from 2001 to 2006 as a 5-year project under cooperation between 獨-朝 Medical Association, North Korean Department of Health, and on-site Hospital in Germany. KOFIH will be participating in the secondary 5-year project which begins from this year. On July 3rd, the Ministry of Unification passed the vote for involving budget.
In this project, 10 North Korean doctors at ages of 30~40 will be invited to Germany and they will be receiving an education/training on latest medical techniques for approximate 6 months at professional on-site hospital(University Hospital or Specialized Hospital). The purpose of this project is to make contributions to reconstruction of the medicine in North Korea by enhancing medical techniques of the North Korean doctors, to allow North Korean doctors to learn advance techniques required in restoring medical systems and medical infrastructures, and to raise capability of the North Korean doctors to reeducate other North Korean doctors when they return home. In addition, `獨-朝 Medical Interchange Symposium` is scheduled to be held in every two years.
This year, 10 North Korean doctors will be divided into 5 groups(oral surgery/dermatology/internal secretion medicine/urology/surgery) and education will be given at 5 University Hospitals of Cologne/Freiburg/Dusseldorf/Aachen/Munster. The budget of 60,000,000Won will be provided during 2007.
