Project for Provision of `Mobile Clinics` to India for Mother & Child Health

On June 26th, the Korean Medical Assistance Team of KOFIH performed verifying process of `Mobile Clinics` to be sent to India. Provision of mobile clinics was planned as part of the project for Mother & Child Health in India. This project was co-promoted by KOFIH, Hyundai Motors, and Community Chest of Korea. 2 Mobile Clinics will be sent to 2 areas including Chennai Region in India. Mobile Clinics, 8-tone trucks remodeled into a medical vehicles, consist of approximately 20 medical equipment including incubator/warmer/ultrasonic waves. In addition, various consumables such as delivery sets, perineum incision sets, and foreign sets are prepared as well. Mobile clinics not only enhance approachability of healthcare to females, children, and newborn babies living in farm villages and cities at poverty, but also create effects of technology transfer through vehicle operation and education on use of equipment. *What is the project for Mother & Child Health in India? This project was promoted by giving consideration to high infant death rate(64 out of 1,000, 4 times the rate in Korea) and maternal death rate(540 cases out of 100,000 cases, 20 times the rate in Korea) of farming areas in India. The purpose of this project is to provide mobile clinics consisted of functions to enhance the health of mother and child. The goal of mobile clinics are to resolve medical issues raised based on poor medical approachability in farming areas in India by using such mobile clinics primarily.
