Project for Eradication of Parasites in Zanzibar of Africa

From February 3rd to 22nd, KOFIH conducted a co-project between South Korea and Zanzibar to eradicate parasites and enhance healthcare for primary school students and children in Zanzibar of Africa.
Having Yong, Tae Soon, a medical college professor of Yonsei University, in charge, Min, Deuk Young, a medical college professor of Yanyang University and Lee, Jong Won, a medical college professor of Yonsei University, examined 4 primary school students of anaemia symptoms, parasite infections, and physical measuring.
As a result of examining parasite infections, an infection rate of Schistosoma haematobium was the highest. In particular, the infection rate was 62.4% for Chaani Primary School. Filaria infection rate(16.7%) and intestinal worm infection rate(21.6%) were highly indicated as well. After the parasite inspection, various anthelmintics were provided.
During this visit, KOFIH exchanged the mutual memorandum of fulfillment with the Zanzibar Minister of Health and Society. Tanzania and field press including `Guardian` and TV broadcasting specifically introduced the research project.
